Gonna get…uh?

March 31, 2008 Leave a comment

Alright, in all my pics I came across this odd looking one, while not in focus to be a good photograph I did see some art qualities to it, let me know what you think. Dreamy water colors and an expressive friend make it intriguing, yet a haze. Picasso, Van Gogh, or just a miss?

busy, busy

March 30, 2008 1 comment

Well, things are busy. Took some time off and de-computerize my life for a few hours and went for a walk for 5 hours and more then 30km later, lots of pics and ideas. We got some great things up ahead over at the Got Photography blog so stay tuned there. For those that have found it to basic till now you’ll be glad to know we are working on tutorials, scripts for PS automation for photo editing etc, all to make your job easier, should be posted there as soon as I get a chance.

Until next time, keep rising above it all on the wings of His wind.

Band/Karaoke openmike

March 27, 2008 1 comment

Home activity night comes around and it is Open Mike in groups that have to chose a Family band without knowing what song to perform. They were not pre-chosen, just every three people as we sat down in the room and then we had to choose the band and get props in about 20 minuets. We were then given a Family song to sing to with only a minus one of the songs, InfoStore was handy for the lyrics on a laptop as a text prompter. I’ll let the pics talk for themselves as we thankfully do not have any video clips or audio of the event-ha.

First up we had “LES EN FANTS DE DIEU” singing “Lifeblood”

Then we took the stage as “THE GYPSY BAND” from TSC with”Traditional Chains”

Ahhhh, Ahhhh, at the chorus, some of the few words we knew that were in our key, was pure ear pain for everyone else.

We need MORE COWBELL! I think I’m musically changed even with them, there is this silly rhythm thing that you have to keep, it kind of cramps my “style”

Then we had a throwback to MWM with STARS N’ BEGGARS singing “Song of Victory”

Then we had one more current band of none other then the illustrious POA singing “My Little Rose” and an encore of “When You Posses Me”.

All sung and screamed out it was a nice way to go down history and music lane with a few laughs, and I think we are appreciative of all that Family bands and artists do to get us quality music. If it was left to us there would not be much of a legacy we have today.

Got Photography

Well as busy as I’ve been lately there is always time for a little more. It’s funny that when you get busy more ideas keep coming, I think work stimulates your mind even more, I’m not one who works on autopilot, ther is always more ideas and vision when you really explore all the options mentally, sometimes even physically and emotionally (with passion).

That said Photography is my passion, though far from an expert I do explore avenues to keep my mine thirsting for another frame and angle. Also in doing layout over the years on paper power’s cut n’ paste to computers copy (Ctrl+C, or apple+C on Mac) and paste (you get the point) pictures are often the make or break for our PR books, and presentation material.

I’ve launched this new blog (Got Photography) that I hope will help others to find out if nothing else what not to do and learn for my mistakes and pics and maybe learn something too, I call out to other Family photographers who would like to share their tips too to join the fun and everyone else to visit and maybe take part in a Got Challenge or just contribute random pictures now and then for the site.

The picture party starts here!

I found this cool little magazine that lets you upload pics that they might use for their bi-monthly magazine, and their categories are refreshing and different. I got all these pics sitting on my comp anyways I might as well let others see them too, and they pay nicely too if they use them, we’ll see what comes from it.

Presenting “The Baby”

March 11, 2008 3 comments

Well it’s been a few weeks since the Feast and we are working on some of the first meetings. Primarily we found we need to present our work more comprehensively as this home has an established work but needs to go other places to continue growth. We have printing contacts that are a blessing so we are trying to work on different ideas to bring our “ranching up to date” as far as making an impression during the first meeting. Here are a few mock-ups I worked on to show the home some possibilities in marketing our work professionally.

If anyone would like input (or “free consultation” as it’s called) on making something like this for your home or work just let me know, and I’ll get you started.

and a few more that are more photo centered, I love art and vector but at the end of the day I’m a photo guy and I think especially with charities and foundations it hits the mark more.
